2013 Media in Review: Movies and Math edition

In 2013, I watched 43 movies, which averages out to 3.5 a month or not quite one per week. of those, 17 (40 percent) were rewatches and 26 (60 percent) were new to me. I was incorrect in the previous post, where I thought I had watched fewer movies in 2013. Apparently, I watched five more than 2012, but my new-to-me percentage dropped by five percentage points. I watched the most movies in January (8) and the fewest in April and December (1 each).

Click on through for more nerd stats and the complete list.

GENRE
Of my 43 movies in 2013, Action/Adventure tops the list with 14 movies (33 percent). This includes movies ranging from Die Hard to The A-Team. Dramas are next at 9 (21 percent), followed by Sci-Fi/Fantasy (7; 16 percent), comedy (5; 12 percent), comics-based (4; 9 percent), family films (3; 7 percent) and the lone musical, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog (2 percent).
For 2014, I’m going to try to remember to include my best guess for genre as I go. I started that in 2013, but didn’t keep up with it. But it seems far easier than tallying at the end.

YEARS
2012 was by far the most represented year with 11 movies (25 percent). 2013 was next with 6 (13 percent).  14 years from 1987-2011 were represented by 1-3 movies each.
A total of 22 movies round out the 2010 decade, making it the most-watched decade at 51 percent. The 90s came in second with 10 movies (23 percent) and the 00s third with 9 (21 percent). The lonely 80s were only represented by 2 movies (5 percent), with the oldest movie on the list being 1987’s “Ghost Chase.”

And here it is: The master list. Italicized movies are the rewatches.
